Kindergarten Round-up is coming on Thursday, April 16th from 4:00 - 5:30 pm. Please bring the following items with you:
Your student
Birth Certificate
Immunization Records
Proof of Address
Each child will leave with a backpack of supplies for Kindergarten Readiness activities for the summer!
Teacher request for the 2026-2027 school year. Requests are due to Ms. Book or Mr. Pratt by April 30, 2026. Please include why this teacher fits best with your student in your request. All requests will be accepted and we will do our best to honor them but there are no guarantees that we can fulfill the request made. No requests will be accepted after April 30th. Thank you, Mr. Pratt Send request via email (spratt@nyssasd.org) and Ms. Book (tbook@nyssasd.org) or sent to the office in a written format.
We will be starting our SBAC/OSAS testing in April. Parents play a vital role in helping their students succeed during standardized testing by creating a supportive and stress-free environment at home. Ensuring children get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time helps them feel prepared and focused. Encouraging a positive attitude toward testing, while reminding students to simply do their best, can reduce anxiety and build confidence. It is also important for parents to maintain normal routines, limit distractions like excessive screen time, and provide a quiet space for any needed practice or review. By offering reassurance, encouragement, and consistency, parents can help their children feel calm, confident, and ready to succeed. Along with these suggestions studies show that students score higher when they test as a class. Therefore we ask parents to please try to schedule all appointments either after school or on Fridays during the months of April and May. This will help your child do the best they can with the SBAC/OSAS testing.

Solicitud de maestro para el año escolar 2026–2027. Las solicitudes deben entregarse a la Sra. Book o al Sr. Pratt antes del 30 de abril de 2026. Por favor incluya en su solicitud por qué este maestro es el más adecuado para su estudiante. Todas las solicitudes serán aceptadas y haremos todo lo posible por cumplirlas, pero no hay garantía de que podamos satisfacer la solicitud realizada. Comenzaremos las evaluaciones SBAC/OSAS en abril. Los padres desempeñan un papel muy importante en el éxito de sus estudiantes durante estas evaluaciones al crear un ambiente de apoyo y sin estrés en casa. Asegurarse de que duerman bien, coman un desayuno saludable y lleguen a tiempo a la escuela les ayuda a sentirse preparados y concentrados. Apoyar una actitud positiva hacia las evaluaciones y recordarles que hagan su mejor esfuerzo puede reducir la ansiedad y aumentar la confianza. También es importante mantener rutinas normales, limitar distracciones como el uso excesivo de pantallas y ofrecer un espacio tranquilo para practicar o repasar si es necesario. Brindar apoyo, ánimo y consistencia ayuda a que los estudiantes se sientan tranquilos, seguros y listos para tener éxito. Además, los estudios muestran que los estudiantes obtienen mejores resultados cuando toman las evaluaciones con su clase. Por lo tanto, les pedimos que, en lo posible, programen citas después de la escuela o los viernes durante los meses de abril y mayo. Esto ayudará a que su estudiante dé lo mejor de sí en las evaluaciones SBAC/OSAS.
